Shred the Strings followers, meet Unlocking the Truth, a super young metal band from Brooklyn, New York.
At the time this video was recorded, the bands members were only 11 and 12 year olds jamming out in Times Square – the tourist epicenter of the city of New York.
Now a trio of 8th graders, Unlocking the Truth consists of Malcolm Brickhouse on lead guitar, bassist Alec Atkins and Jarad Dawkins on drums, with all 3 lending their vocals.
In the featured video below, the boys jam a really hard metal breakdown from the track “Recreant” by Chelsea Grin.
In 2013, videos of the boys just like this one blew up, going viral and garnering them a TON of popularity in the process. This sudden spike in popularity led to them making headlines when they signed a $1.8 million record deal with Sony.
Unfortunately, the boys didn’t have the greatest experience signing with a major label and were able to get out of their contract, and they’re now signed with the much more artist-friendly label Artery Records. They’re currently working with Disturbed producer Johnny K, and by all accounts have grown into a very polished live act as well.
